Don't Look

My intent with this image was to make a visual pun. What is the first thing a person will do if you tell them "Don't look I'm naked!"

I wanted to make a statement about the taboo of images in our society. We tell our children that it is bad to look at such things but then we plaster it all over our media. The model seems to be telling the viewer not to look, but she's peeking out, as if checking to see if we are. Her posture is contrary to what the text is saying. If she didn't want us to look why would she throw her arms up to give us a better view? Who shouldn't be looking anyway? Why? These are all thoughts I wanted to invoke in this image.

I'm also paying a homage to Barbara Kruger, a feminist artist/Designer, who made famous the typeface Futura Bold Oblique whited out on a red background. I've incorporated that specific type in my own image.
